Following his Seattle documentary screening of "Making Skybreak" at the 15th annual Langston Hughes African American Film Festival, Zo!, accompanied by Carmen Rodgers will perform live for the official afterparty. DJ Topspin will keep the party vibe going all night. Two separate artists who come together LIVE on the same stage, at the same time to perform songs from each other’s vast discographies. Enter the stage, Zo! + Carmen Rodgers. With a combined total of more than 10 individual projects, several of which have hit the Billboard charts at one time or another, they still fly under-the-radar while stealthily dishing solid servings of soul food to a seemingly starved scene. But folks who are steeped in the underground scene, fans of them individually or as members of The Foreign Exchange crew especially, have already set their Spotify/Pandora stations accordingly, having seen Zo! and Carmen touring successfully. On stage, Carmen delivers sweet, sultry & smoky vocals, with a hint of Texas grit and southern daint, as only a native Dallas gal can. Zo! brings it all together showcasing his musical visions with thick layers of keyboards and synthesizers that ride rhythm-heavy, melodic tracks reminiscent of his native Detroit - all while possessing an audience rapport as easy-going as his smile. Together, they present tunes from all of their projects including their newest releases, Carmen’s Stargazer (Purpose Music Group/Nia) and Zo!’s SkyBreak (+FE Music). Yes! Good R&B/Soul music is still being created; Zo! + Carmen Rodgers are consistent contributors to that movement. And understanding music in itself is a movement, their goal is to get the people feeling, grooving and ready to change the world.
